Caribbean Nations Group horse race meet billed for January 28

first_imgOVER $5M in cash and trophies will be up for grabs when the Caribbean Nations Group stages its inaugural horse race meet on January 28, at the Rising Sun Turf Club.The Group, which was established in late 2017 by a number of sports enthusiasts, made the announcement on Thursday last.The one-day event is intended for locally bred horses with seven categories of horses on show.Co-founder of the group, Steven Cheefoon, anticipates a fun-filled day, adding that after the races have been completed, an after-race party is in store for the patrons.“In addition to that, we are having a day filled for the kids also; we are having a kids corner where we [will be] having trampoline, bouncy house, the play pen and everything to go along with the kids because we want a family-filled day.We also have the bleachers, when the grandstands are filled, we have the bleachers and parking will be behind the grandstand, so we don’t want anybody’s views to be obstructed when they are on the ground,” Cheefoon said.The feature race is the Corona classic, which will see the winner walking away with $1M in cash and a trophy.The races will be run under the rules and regulations of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.Registration closes on January 23.last_img read more
