Gov. Wolf Visits Campers at Indiana County State Police Camp Cadet

first_img Press Release,  Public Safety Penn Run, PA – Governor Tom Wolf today visited with 39 campers at Indiana County Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet held at Camp Seph Mack in Penn Run. The week-long camp introduces girls and boys age 12-15 to the diverse criminal justice system and helps to establish a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel.“The campers at the state police Camp Cadet today were having an incredible experience investigating a mock crime scene and doing team-building exercises with Pennsylvania National Guard members,” Gov. Wolf said. “I was really excited to join them for part of their day and share some of their experience. I believe they all learned a lot and will really benefit from the experience. I know I did.”Gov. Wolf was met by Pennsylvania State Police Troop A commanders and the campers who put on a marching demonstration for the governor. The governor then participated in the Indiana County coroner-led mock crime scene investigation where campers located evidence and clues and formulated theories to help solve a crime.Later in the tour, the governor watched as campers participated in team-building exercises and an obstacle course under the direction of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Last, the governor visited the camp’s overnight campsite with more camp participants.The Camp Cadet program was formed in 1970 by Pennsylvania State Trooper (Ret.) Albert R. Vish. For more than 40 years his idea has provided the inspiration for the establishment of other Camp Cadet Programs across Pennsylvania. Now, Camp Cadet programs are established in 30 Pennsylvania counties.“Troopers look forward to Camp Cadet each summer because it allows us to interact with young people in an enjoyable, active setting and helps build positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities we serve,” said Captain Jeffrey Fisher, commanding officer of Troop A. “Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and tremendous community support, we are able to provide our cadets a week where they can begin to learn about a career in law enforcement while also having a lot of fun.”Camp Cadet is staffed by Pennsylvania State Troopers and other volunteers, is open to all youth and structured similarly to training at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. All participants who attend Camp Cadet are addressed as “Cadet” during the week. Cadets are required to participate in all scheduled events, which a focus on discipline, self-esteem, physical fitness, teamwork, drug and alcohol education, violence prevention, and many other issues facing today’s youth. Cadets work together throughout the week to complete individual and team-oriented tasks.“Thank you to the Pennsylvania State Police, the Indiana County coroner’s office, the Pennsylvania National Guard and the many volunteers who make Camp Cadet a reality,” Gov. StarTimes unveils Bundesliga Football School project in Ghana

first_imgAfrica’s leading pay-TV service operator StarTimes in collaboration with the German Bundesliga, have rolled out a project targeted at developing young football talents and coaches in Ghana.The event dubbed Bundesliga Football School, is a partnership project between Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) and StarTimes, the official broadcaster of the German Bundesliga in all Sub-Saharan Africa. The Bundesliga Experience is a unique event which will give football fans in Ghana a taste of ‘Football As It’s Meant To Be’.The event allows local fans to experience a physical connection to Germany’s top tier league through a number of fun and inclusive activities.The Bundesliga Football School, which has been slated for December 14 – 18, 2019, is a new partnership model targeted at developing and promoting young talent worldwide. The approach is to join with national soccer associations, soccer leagues and professional clubs to encourage talented young soccer players at the local level.Over the course of one week, soccer players (boys and girls) between the ages of 13 and 17 will receive targeted assistance in a series of compact training sessions and workshops, enabling them to showcase their talent.The sessions will be ran by experts and licensed coaches from the youth training centres of Bundesliga clubs with assistance from selected Ghanaian coaches. Former German international Renate Lingor, 2x World Cup Winner, 2x European Champion and 3x Bronze Medal Olympic Games winner together with other UEFA license A coaches such as Tobias Süveges of SV Werder Bremen, Arne Stratmann of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Bjoern Nass of Bayer 04 Leverkusen and head coach of the Bundesliga Football school, Birger J. Nass will lead the course.Ghanaian coaches will also benefit from the project which seeks to expose them to new methods of developing young talents and build a new working corporation as they work together with the German coaches. Former German captain and a 1990 FIFA world cup winner, Lothar Herbert Matthäus will also be in Accra during the period in a legends tour campaign to encourage the young talents and share his footballing experience.  The German Bundesliga is a role model for youth development, with future talent emerging in the league every season.In 2002, it became mandatory for all Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs to have youth academies and since then, €1.6 Billion has been invested by clubs in youth development.
