first_imgFor the past few weeks, ASUS has been teasing the successor to its popular budget midrange smartphone, Zenfone Max Pro M1- the Zenfone Max Pro M2. The company has been proud to announce one of the segment-first features of the handset on its social media accounts, which is the presence of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The ASUS midrange smartphone will also sport a notch on top of its display like some its popular rivals. Well, ASUS has given out more information on the handset.In one of its recent social media posts, ASUS has given out more information on the processor that will underpin the Max Pro M2. ASUS has equipped the handset with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 chipset. The 14nm midrange chipset is presently powering some of its rivals such as the Realme 2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi A2. The Snapdragon 660 has a clockspeed of 1.9GHz and has eight Kryo 260 cores. The chipset is known to be a fairly good performer with an equal balance of computing performance and battery life.ASUS also announced that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will run on a stock version of Android, similar to its predecessor. The company hasn’t confirmed which version of Android will the handset debut with, but the Russian version of the phone is running on Android 8.1 Oreo. There could be a high possibility that ASUS might launch the phone in India with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.ASUS has also confirmed that they will be launching the Zenfone Max M2 alongside the Zenfone Max Pro M2. The Zenfone Max M2 is expected to slot under the Zenfone Max Pro M2 in terms of pricing and features. ASUS has already announced that the Zenfone Max M2 will be built around the Snapdragon 632 chipset. The Snapdragon 632 is an octa-core chipset with Kryo 250 cores accompanied by Adreno 506 GPU. Similar to the Zenfone Max Pro M2, the Max M2 will also run on a stock version of Android. However, ASUS hasn’t mentioned the version of Android that this phone will be running.advertisementWhile ASUS will launch both the devices officially in India on 11th December, the pair of new Zenfone Max smartphones has been already launched in the Russian market. The Zenfone Max M2 was launched for 12,990 rubles (approximately Rs 13,800)whereas the Zenfone Max Pro M2 was announced for 17,990 rubles (approximately Rs 19,100).
